Bayern Munich is eager to offload Sadio Mane after a disappointing debut season, and Manchester United and Newcastle are the clubs that are most likely to sign him.

Having been seen as a high-profile acquisition for the German champions due to his impressive performances for Liverpool in the Premier League, the Senegalese footballer Sadio Mane joined Bayern Munich only last summer in a transfer worth £27.4 million.

However, following a disappointing season during which he scored only 12 goals, Sky Sport Germany has reported that Bayern is likely to offload Mane this summer.

After his team’s 3-0 loss to Manchester City in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final last month, Sadio Mane was reportedly involved in a post-match altercation with Leroy Sane that resulted in Sane getting a bloody lip.

Following an altercation with teammate Leroy Sane, Sadio Mane was fined a club-record £250,000 by Bayern and dropped from the next match.

It has been reported that only Premier League clubs could afford Mane’s £17.4 million salary.

As a result, he has been linked with a move to Manchester United, who are looking to strengthen their attack in the summer.

Mane is a versatile forward who can play both from the left and in a central role, which would complement the team’s top scorer Marcus Rashford.

This link comes amid doubts over the roles of Jadon Sancho and Anthony Martial at Man United.

Mane had previously revealed that he came close to signing for Man United in 2016 before joining Liverpool.

Meanwhile, there have been reports in Germany that Newcastle could be a potential option for Mane, with the Magpies looking to reinforce their squad ahead of a potential European campaign next season under new manager Eddie Howe.

Mane would be a valuable addition to the Newcastle attack, having previously performed well in both the Premier League and the Champions League.

It is unlikely that Sadio Mane will return to Liverpool, as the team has already invested heavily in new players, such as Cody Gakpo (£44m) and Darwin Nunez (£85m), since Mane’s departure.

Despite this, Chelsea has reportedly been monitoring Mane’s situation at Bayern as they consider a potential move.

If a return to the Premier League does not happen, Mane could consider options in Spain or Italy. Barcelona, who are struggling financially and may lose Lionel Messi, could be interested in a cut-price deal for Mane.

Juventus is also looking to improve their team after three seasons without a league title.

According to Caught Offside, the Saudi Arabian government is also targeting Mane as a potential star signing for its league, following Cristiano Ronaldo’s move to Al-Nassr in January for £175m-a-year and ongoing links between Messi and Al-Hilal in a deal worth £522m.
