Liverpool FC has officially announced the signing of Dutch midfielder Ryan Gravenberch from Bayern Munich, completing a deal that could reach a total of £38.5 million, depending on various performance-based add-ons. Gravenberch becomes Liverpool’s fourth new addition of the summer, signing a five-year contract on the final day of the transfer window.

The 21-year-old’s move to Liverpool comes after a challenging season at Bayern Munich, where he had joined from Ajax in a £20 million deal last summer. Liverpool had been closely monitoring Gravenberch even before his move to Bayern, and they have now secured his services for an initial fee of £34.25 million, with the potential for an additional £4.25 million in add-ons, according to sources at This Is Anfield.

As an international player for the Netherlands, Gravenberch joins Liverpool as part of the club’s midfield rebuilding process, following the arrivals of Alexis Mac Allister, Dominik Szoboszlai, and Wataru Endo. Gravenberch will wear the squad number 38 at Liverpool and expressed his enthusiasm for the new chapter in his career, stating, “Now we start fresh again, a new start. I’m going to give my all for this club. My ambitions are to win prizes, play a lot, and show them who we are and who I am.”

Due to the timing of the transfer, Gravenberch was not registered in time to feature in Liverpool’s recent match against Aston Villa. However, his signing represents a long-term investment for the club, coming after the departure of several senior midfielders from Jurgen Klopp’s squad. Jordan Henderson, Fabinho, James Milner, Naby Keita, and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain have all found new clubs during the summer transfer window.

With Gravenberch’s arrival, Liverpool now boasts a total of twelve Dutch players who have represented the club’s first team. He joins his compatriots Virgil van Dijk and Cody Gakpo as part of the current Liverpool squad. Gravenberch is also the fourth player Liverpool has signed from Bayern Munich, following in the footsteps of Markus Babbel, Alou Diarra, and Thiago.

Liverpool fans will be eagerly anticipating Gravenberch’s contributions to the team as they look to compete for honors in the upcoming season. The talented midfielder’s arrival signals the club’s ambition to maintain their competitive edge and continue their success on both domestic and international fronts.
