Liverpool are reportedly preparing to make an offer for Nigerian international Victor Osimhen, who currently plays for Italian champions Napoli. According to La Gazzetta Dello Sport, Liverpool have “chosen Osimhen” and are among several clubs preparing important offers for the 24-year-old center forward. The publication also reports that Napoli want at least £154m (180 million euros) for their prized asset.

While Liverpool are said to be the favorites among English clubs to sign Osimhen, with a 20 percent chance, both Manchester United and Newcastle United also reportedly have a 5 percent chance each. However, it was previously reported that Osimhen is not interested in leaving a club that can offer Champions League football.

Napoli president Aurelio de Laurentiis is said to have rejected a 100 million euro bid from PSG for Osimhen, and now Premier League clubs are “preparing raises” in their offers. The Reds have reportedly already contacted Osimhen’s agent, and the versatile striker’s characteristics are said to be greatly appreciated by Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp.

While the idea of Liverpool shattering their transfer record by paying £154m for Osimhen seems unlikely, it is clear that the club is interested in the player and is considering its options. Klopp is reportedly looking for a striker who can “make the difference,” and Osimhen, who was the top scorer in Serie A last season, would certainly fit that bill. It remains to be seen whether Liverpool will ultimately make a move for the Nigerian international, but it is clear that the club is keeping a close eye on him.
