Gravenberch Reveals Origins of Liverpool Shirt Photo

New Liverpool signing Ryan Gravenberch has finally revealed the story behind the photo of him wearing a Reds shirt that circulated online prior to his transfer.
After completing his move to Anfield, Gravenberch was asked about the origins of the picture by LiverpoolFC.com. The Dutch midfielder explained that it was taken a couple of years ago when he swapped shirts with former Reds academy player Ki-Jana Hoever.
Gravenberch said: “Oh, seriously? I didn’t see it. [Checks the picture] Ah, OK. Yeah, this picture, I saw it! It was a couple of years ago in the gym, I swapped a shirt with a former player from here, Ki-Jana Hoever. That was a very nice shirt.”

Both Gravenberch and Hoever are 21 years old and clearly formed a bond during their time together in Holland. It seems Hoever, who now plays for Wolves, gave Gravenberch positive reviews of his spell at Liverpool.
The old image of Gravenberch in a Liverpool kit subsequently went viral online among Reds fans ahead of his transfer. The club’s social media team cleverly recreated the photo for his official unveiling.
The story provides heartwarming insight into the long-standing connection between Liverpool’s new number 38 and the club. Gravenberch has finally satisfied fans’ curiosity over the origins of the photo after nearly three years of speculation.
With Hoever’s glowing recommendation, the young Dutch midfielder looks set to embark on his own successful career at Anfield. The shirt swap clearly left a lasting impact on Liverpool’s newest recruit.
