The Final Decision on Mason Greenwood’s Future May Be Coming Soon

The final decision on Mason Greenwood’s future at Manchester United could arrive soon if a new development is any indication.

EFootball, formerly known as PES or Pro Evolution Soccer by Konami, has added Greenwood back to the Manchester United squad in the latest database update. Konami is the official partner of Manchester United for football video games.

Greenwood was removed from the video game in February 2022 after allegations of rape and sexual assault emerged against him.

He was also suspended by Manchester United at that time. Since then, all criminal charges against Greenwood have been dropped as the Crown Prosecution Service said there was “no longer a realistic prospect of conviction” after key witnesses withdrew their cooperation from the investigation.

This has put Manchester United in a difficult position. While Greenwood was found to be legally innocent, the audio and video evidence in the public domain means simply reinstating him is not straightforward either.

On the other hand, the club cannot take disciplinary action against a player who has not been convicted of a crime.

A decision on Greenwood’s future with the club was expected before the start of the recent Premier League season but reports indicate it has been delayed.

It is believed Manchester United is consulting with the club’s women’s team before making an announcement. Female fans have also voiced their opinion against Greenwood’s potential return through a statement.

It is reported that the club is exploring all options, including potentially sending Greenwood out on loan away from Old Trafford to avoid scrutiny.

Meanwhile, Greenwood has been keeping fit with private coaches who have worked with United players in the past.

In his personal life, Greenwood recently became a father and is engaged to be married. Until an official communication from the club is released, his future remains uncertain. However, his inclusion again in the latest version of eFootball could signal a decision is forthcoming.
