Manchester United Transfer Target Sofyan Amrabat Set for Medical

Moroccan midfielder Sofyan Amrabat is traveling to Manchester to complete his medical tests ahead of a potential loan move to Manchester United.

Man United have agreed a deal with Fiorentina for the signing of Amrabat. The Premier League club will pay €10 million (£8.5m) to take Amrabat on loan for the 2022-23 season, with an option to buy the player permanently for €25 million (£21.4m) next summer.

While Fiorentina preferred a permanent transfer, United are conscious of complying with Financial Fair Play rules. United’s director of football negotiations Matt Hargreaves flew to Italy to finalize the agreement.

The 27-year-old Amrabat has not been training with Fiorentina’s first team in recent weeks while his future was uncertain. He was left out of their Europa Conference League squad for their playoff match against Rapid Vienna this week.

Amrabat was a standout player for Morocco at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. His tireless performances in midfield helped Morocco reach the semifinals, impressing fans and pundits alike. He topped stats for distance covered and tackles, displaying his energy and defensive ability.

If he passes his medical, Amrabat will boost United’s options in midfield. After four seasons in Serie A with Fiorentina, the Premier League presents the next logical step in his career. Completing this loan move could be a coup for Erik ten Hag’s rebuilding project at Old Trafford.
