Liverpool’s Europa League group stage draw has pitted new signing Alexis Mac Allister against his older brother Kevin, who plays for Union SG.
The Reds were placed in Group E alongside the Belgian side, LASK of Austria, and French club Toulouse in Friday’s draw in Monaco.
The two matches against Union SG will hold special significance for Alexis as he goes head-to-head with his 25-year-old brother.
Kevin Mac Allister joined Union from Argentinos Juniors this summer, the same club where both he and Alexis began their careers.
Upon hearing the draw, Kevin sent a simple message to his sibling that was shared on Union’s Twitter account: “See you soon, bro.”

While Alexis is a midfielder, Kevin plays as a defender and will be tasked with keeping Liverpool’s fearsome attack at bay.
The Mac Allister brothers are sons of former Argentinos Juniors player Carlos Mac Allister, who now represents Alexis as his agent.

Liverpool will be strong favorites to progress from Group E as they target what would be manager Jurgen Klopp’s fifth European final with the club.
The Europa League group stage gets underway on September 21, with the final round of matches taking place on December 14.
The Reds will be hoping Alexis can lead them deep into the competition, even if it comes at the expense of his own brother.
