Liverpool winger Luis Diaz could be on the verge of leaving the club just 18 months after his arrival from FC Porto. According to Portuguese outlet Record, the Colombian international is drawing interest from Saudi Arabian side Al Hilal, who are reportedly willing to offer €50m for his transfer. The signing is said to be a request from Portuguese manager Jorge Jesus, and huge amounts of money would obviously be used to try and tempt the player.

Diaz has been a key player for Liverpool since his arrival in January 2022, scoring 11 goals and providing eight assists in 47 appearances for the club. However, despite his impressive performances, Liverpool are not thought to be interested in the bid from Al Hilal. It’s claimed they are not expected to accept that amount, especially because Diaz is wanted by Jurgen Klopp.

The Colombian winger’s contract with the Reds runs until 2027, and he’s currently valued by Transfermarkt at €75m, an amount which Liverpool could use as a reference to insist that he’s worth more. It remains to be seen whether Al Hilal will officially place their bid for the winger, or whether they’d come back with a bigger offer in case the Reds turn the initial bid down.

If Diaz were to leave Liverpool, it would be a major blow for the club, who have relied on him heavily in the past 18 months. However, the Reds have a number of talented wingers in their squad and could potentially use the funds from his sale to strengthen other areas of the team. Diaz himself may also be tempted by the prospect of a move to Saudi Arabia, where he could earn a lucrative contract and play under a Portuguese manager in Jorge Jesus. Only time will tell whether this transfer saga will come to fruition.
