Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has taken a well-deserved break from football, enjoying a family holiday on the island of Formentera in Spain. The 51-year-old was seen relaxing on a yacht with his wife Ulla Sandrock and family friends, dipping his feet in the Mediterranean and forgetting the troubles of football life.
Klopp has been hard at work during pre-season, trying to shape his squad for the upcoming season, with the signing of Fabinho from Monaco following their Champions League final defeat. Liverpool were also on the verge of landing Nabil Fekir from Lyon, only to see the deal fall through at the 11th hour.
With all focus now on the World Cup for players, Klopp took the opportunity to seek a little respite ahead of another grueling season. It is the German’s last vestige of relaxation ahead of a hectic pre-season schedule for his side.
Liverpool will play their first pre-season friendly at Anfield in four years with a fixture against Torino on August 7. The addition of the game takes the number of pre-season fixtures this summer to nine. Klopp’s side will commence their preparations for the new season before the World Cup has even finished with an away game against Chester on July 7.
Clearly in a relaxed mood, Klopp was happy to wave at the cameras on the shore, as he took a speed boat out on the sea. The Liverpool boss also went for a stroll along the white sand with his wife in Spain, enjoying the beautiful scenery and soaking up the sun.
After a busy pre-season, Klopp will be hoping that his side can hit the ground running and challenge for the Premier League title once again. But for now, he’s enjoying some much-needed downtime with his family and friends, recharging his batteries for the challenges ahead.
