Liverpool are currently in negotiations with OGC Nice over the potential transfer of midfielder Khephren Thuram. The 20-year-old has been a key target for the Reds this summer, with reports linking him with a move to Anfield for some time now.

According to journalist Rudy Galetti, Liverpool and Nice are now in direct talks over the fee for Thuram’s transfer, with personal terms already agreed. The two clubs are working to reach an agreement for around €40/45m (£34.5-£38m), a fee that would be more acceptable to Liverpool than the previously suggested £50m.

If Liverpool can secure Thuram’s signature, he would be a significant addition to the midfield, providing quality, potential and technical ability. The French midfielder has been compared to some of the best midfielders in the world, and his addition to the Reds would certainly bolster their squad for the upcoming season.

Furthermore, if Liverpool can also acquire the services of Dominik Szoboszlai and Alexis Mac Allister, it would provide a perfect blend of potential, quality, technical ability, raw power, legs and goal-scoring, which is everything Jurgen Klopp has been missing from his midfield options.

However, it’s important to note that nothing is set in stone yet, and there are still several hurdles to clear before Thuram and Szoboszlai could become Liverpool players. Additionally, reports also suggest that Liverpool are set to make a fresh bid for Real Madrid’s Federico Valverde, which could further bolster their midfield options.

Nevertheless, if Liverpool can secure Thuram’s signature for a fee closer to the €40/45m mark, it would represent a significant breakthrough for the club and potentially set them up for a successful season ahead.
