Liverpool Football Club has been hit by a double blow in the transfer market, as Jordan Henderson and Fabinho are reportedly set to leave the club. Henderson has joined Al-Ettifaq, while Fabinho is in talks to join Saudi Pro League champions Al-Ittiahd.

Speaking at a press conference during Liverpool’s pre-season training camp in Singapore, manager Jurgen Klopp expressed his concern at the prospect of losing two key members of his midfield. The departures of Henderson and Fabinho would leave Liverpool short of senior options in midfield, with James Milner, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, and Naby Keita having already departed this summer.

Klopp acknowledged that Liverpool are in negotiations with Southampton over 19-year-old defensive midfielder Romeo Lavia, and that the club is working on solutions to strengthen their midfield. However, he also emphasized the need to wait for deals to be finalized before speaking about them publicly.

“Fabinho is not here and that shows things are ongoing,” Klopp said. “But as far as I know it’s not finalized. We obviously all have to get used to these kinds of things now, timings are not exactly like we are used to it in the moment so far. That’s why it’s better to wait until things have happened before speaking about it.”

Liverpool fans will be hoping that the club can secure a new arrival before the start of the Premier League season, which kicks off in just two weeks with a tough away fixture against Chelsea. Klopp’s comments suggest that the club is actively working to strengthen their squad, but whether they will be able to do so before the transfer window closes remains to be seen.
