Alexander-Arnold Joins Host of Sports Stars Investing in F1’s Alpine

Liverpool right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold is among a number of high-profile sporting figures to invest in Otro Capital, the strategic investment group backing Formula 1 team Alpine.
Alpine, who previously raced as Renault, have attracted financing from Hollywood star Ryan Reynolds and actor Rob McElhenney. They have now received a further €200 million (£173 million) cash injection.
Alexander-Arnold joins NFL stars Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce, golfer Rory McIlroy, and boxer Anthony Joshua in getting involved with Otro Capital as they acquire stakes in the F1 outfit.
The new investors will help drive Alpine’s global brand awareness and growth in areas like media, sponsorship and merchandising.
On his decision, Alexander-Arnold said: “Having been to F1 races as a fan, I love the high-pressure paddock environment. I’ve seen how impressive the Alpine team is and want to help contribute to their success.”
Alpine currently have an all-French driver line-up of Esteban Ocon and Pierre Gasly. They are targeting greater success after picking up two podium finishes so far this season.
Otro Capital’s Alec Scheiner said: “We are honoured to be joined by this group of world-class investors who are committed to elevating Alpine.”
The high-profile names underline the surging popularity of F1 as a global sport and brand. Alexander-Arnold’s involvement indicates confidence in Alpine’s future growth and development.
