Manchester United are ready to move quickly to buy Tottenham Hotspur’s Harry Kane at the end of the season.

According to Jacob Steinberg of The Guardian, Erik ten Hag is “obsessed with Kane,” believing that Kane may help United become a title contender next season.

The Red Devils’ lack of firepower this season has been well chronicled, with the early termination of a struggling Cristiano Ronaldo and Anthony Martial’s ongoing injury troubles prompting the club to borrow Burnley forward Wout Weghorst.

And, with Kane among the best attackers in the world, it’s easy to see why United might be interested in signing the England captain.

His goal-scoring record is outstanding, and his playmaking abilities would be a significant asset to the team’s ability to hold possession and create chances.

Victor Osimhen and Rasmus Hojlund are also on the club’s shortlist, but with the former costing £130 million and the latter still in the early stages of his career, Kane is seen as the ideal prospect to lead the line at Old Trafford.

Tottenham have failed to qualify for the Champions League this season, as Kane enters the final year of his contract.

While Levy is known for being a tough negotiator, there is optimism that an agreement can be reached this summer.

Man United is hopeful that moving “as quickly as possible” in the window will help to smooth down negotiations.

They are therefore hoping to propose a suitable offer early in the summer in order to avoid being sucked into a months-long transfer controversy.

Ten Hag is also interested in another Premier League player, according to Steinberg, who suggests a £60 million bid for Mason Mount.

Frank Lampard was asked to comment on Mason Mount’s status ahead of Chelsea’s next trip to Old Trafford, with the England regular widely linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge.

“It’s not my answer to make,” the temporary boss insisted. “It’s a battle between Mason and the club.”

Man United, as previously reported by The Peoples Person, are among the clubs interested in the midfielder, who is also entering the final year of his contract.

Ten Hag, according to Steinberg, has been impressed with Mount’s versatility and work rate, both of which may be big assets to Man United’s pressing style.

If Manchester United sign both England internationals early in the transfer window, Erik ten Hag will be able to work with them during the preseason and integrate them into the team ahead of next season.
