Mbappe’s desire to play for Real Madrid has been no secret, with the Frenchman coming very close to signing for Los Blancos last year, before ultimately renewing his contract with Paris Saint-Germain (PSG). However, recent reports suggest that a move to Madrid may still be on the cards, despite the emergence of a new star in the Spanish capital.

Vinicius Junior has been in scintillating form over the past two years, with his performances leading to a significant cooling of Madrid’s interest in Mbappe. According to Marca, the hierarchy at the club are so impressed by Vinicius that they are no longer willing to part with any money for Mbappe’s services. They believe it would be fruitless to acquire the Frenchman, given the Brazilian’s current form.

There is a clause in Mbappe’s PSG contract that would allow him to terminate his deal in the summer of 2024, which could change Madrid’s stance on the transfer. However, with Los Blancos reportedly on the verge of signing Jude Bellingham, they may be forced to rein in their future spending.

Mbappe, for his part, is focused on securing his fifth Ligue 1 title with PSG, the only silverware he can still acquire this season. The Frenchman has been instrumental in his team’s recent success, and he will be hoping to continue his impressive form in the coming weeks.

It remains to be seen whether Mbappe will eventually make the move to Madrid, but for now, the emergence of Vinicius has certainly complicated matters. The Brazilian’s rise to stardom has given Madrid a new attacking threat, and it will be interesting to see how the club’s hierarchy navigate this situation in the coming months.
