Real Madrid are reportedly looking to bolster their squad this summer and have identified Scotland captain Andy Robertson as a potential target.

The club is in search of a left-back in anticipation of Ferland Mendy’s departure.

Mendy, who was signed for £42 million from Lyon, has been plagued by injuries this season and has played only a limited role in the team.

Despite the club’s improvisation with Eduardo Camavinga in recent times, Mendy reportedly wants to return to his natural position in midfield.

Real Madrid has also been linked to Bayern Munich’s Alphonso Davies, but the Bundesliga champions have made it clear that the Canadian World Cup star is not for sale and are hoping to extend his contract, which runs until 2025.

Robertson is a vital player in Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool squad and is under contract until 2026.

The left-back has not expressed any desire to leave the club, and it remains to be seen if Real Madrid can lure him away from Anfield.

Andy Robertson, who has 62 caps for the Scottish national team, is a highly decorated player and has won several trophies including the Champions League, European Super Cup, FIFA Club World Cup, English Premier League, and FA Cup since joining Liverpool from Hull City in 2017.

He is considered a world-class player and is valued at more than £40 million.

Real Madrid is reportedly interested in Robertson, and a transfer to the Spanish club would guarantee Champions League football next season.

Liverpool, on the other hand, is at risk of missing out on a spot in the tournament to Manchester United.

Aside from Robertson, Real Madrid has also been linked to Borussia Dortmund’s Jude Bellingham and PSG’s Kylian Mbappe as they search for new talent.

Meanwhile, Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti believes that Brazilian forward Vinicius Jr will stay with the club despite the recent racist abuse he has received.

The player has been subjected to vile taunts during matches, but Ancelotti believes that Vinicius Jr loves Real Madrid and will not leave the club.

UEFA has received calls to issue a statement in support of the player but has been reluctant to do so.
