Former Premier League star Michael Owen has recommended that Liverpool consider signing Declan Rice from West Ham United if they are unable to sign Jude Bellingham this summer.

Liverpool have been linked with Borussia Dortmund’s midfielder for a while now, and despite interest from other top European clubs like Real Madrid, it appeared that Liverpool were the front runners to secure the signature of the English international.

According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano’s report in April, Liverpool are no longer in the running to sign the midfielder as they view his price tag of £130 million as too expensive.

Liverpool will need to search for alternative solutions for their midfield after deciding not to pursue Bellingham due to his high price tag. Michael Owen, a former Liverpool player, suggested that the club should do their utmost to sign Bellingham as he is considered one of the best talents available.

However, if Bellingham were to sign for Real Madrid, Owen recommended that Liverpool turn their attention to Declan Rice as he would be the next best option for the team. Rice,

who is also highly rated, has attracted interest from several Premier League clubs including Liverpool, Arsenal, and Chelsea, as well as Real Madrid.

Apart from Bellingham, Rice has also emerged as one of the most promising midfield prospects for England. The West Ham midfielder has caught the attention of several Premier League clubs, including Liverpool, Arsenal, and Chelsea, as well as Real Madrid. It is still uncertain who Liverpool will ultimately sign to strengthen their midfield options.
