Man United News :- Ajax defender Jurrien Timber has sparked transfer speculation by suggesting that he is getting closer to leaving the club this summer.

The 21-year-old has been linked with a possible move to Manchester United, where he would reunite with United manager Erik ten Hag who gave him his Ajax debut in March 2020.

Speaking to Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf ahead of Sunday’s Dutch Cup final against PSV, Timber revealed that there is a lot of concrete interest in his services and that he has already made agreements with Ajax.

He also mentioned that he had been asked by the club to stay for at least one more season and to extend his contract, which he did as a “club boy.”

However, Timber’s recent comments suggest that he may be ready to make the next step in his career. “I want to take that step someday.

But when that is, you will eventually hear and it will happen in consultation with Ajax,” he said. “I’m still here anyway and I’m in no hurry.

The focus is now on the cup final and the remainder of the competition.”

Since making his debut for Ajax, Timber has played over 100 times for the Dutch giants, winning two Eredivisie titles in the process.

He has also been a regular for the Netherlands national team and appears to have a bright future ahead of him.

Manchester United have been heavily linked with a move for Timber, who is seen as a potential long-term replacement for club captain Harry Maguire.

The Red Devils have already signed one defender in the form of Raphael Varane, but it’s believed that they are still looking to strengthen their backline with the addition of another young talent.

If Timber does leave Ajax this summer, it will be interesting to see where he ends up.

He’s still only 21 and has plenty of potential to develop into a top-class player. With United reportedly interested in his services, he could be set for a big move to the Premier League in the near future.
