Manchester United Set to Sign Fenerbahce Goalkeeper Altay Bayindir

Manchester United are set to complete the £4.3million signing of Fenerbahce goalkeeper Altay Bayindir as cover for Andre Onana.

The 24-year-old Turkey international arrived in England over the weekend and his agents joined him in Manchester on Wednesday to iron out the final details ahead of his move. Bayindir was an unused substitute as Fenerbahce beat Twente 5-1 in the Europa Conference League last week.

His impending arrival at Old Trafford will allow Crystal Palace to complete the signing of current United goalkeeper Dean Henderson. Henderson will move to Selhurst Park for £15m with a further £5m in add-ons. United will also hold a sell-on clause for any future transfer of Henderson, as reported by Mail Sport earlier this week.

If the deal goes through, Bayindir will provide competition and backup to Onana, who arrived from Ajax earlier this summer. At 24, Bayindir already has experience playing in Europe and for the Turkish national team. This signing addresses United’s need for another experienced goalkeeper while allowing Henderson to leave and get regular playing time elsewhere. Pending the final details, Bayindir looks set to complete his transfer to Manchester United in the coming days.
