Rabiot, who has been with Juventus since 2019, is out of contract this summer and has not yet agreed to extend his stay with the Italian giants.
According to a report from The Athletic, United are said to be testing the waters to see if the Frenchman will be available this summer.
United boss Erik ten Hag is believed to be an admirer of Rabiot, having tried to sign him last summer during his time with Ajax. While a deal could not be agreed at the time, both sides may be in a position to find an agreement this time around.
Rabiot joined Juventus on a free transfer from Paris Saint-Germain in 2019 and has made 74 appearances for the club, scoring six goals.
The 26-year-old midfielder has also been a regular for the French national team, earning 18 caps since making his debut in 2016.
Rabiot has previously expressed his desire to play in the Premier League, saying in an interview with The Times in 2019, “It’s a very good league, it’s really competitive and I like the mentality of the English clubs. It would be a dream to play in the Premier League.”
If United are able to secure the signing of Rabiot, he would add much-needed depth to their midfield. The Red Devils have been linked with a number of midfielders this summer, including Declan Rice of West Ham and Eduardo Camavinga of Rennes.
However, Rabiot’s experience and versatility would make him an attractive option for United.
It remains to be seen whether Juventus will look to keep hold of Rabiot or if they will be willing to let him leave on a free transfer this summer.
However, with United reportedly in contact with the player, it seems that the Premier League side are keen to explore the possibility of adding the Frenchman to their squad ahead of the new season.
