Manchester United Transfer News:-

Transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano has reported that the agent of Jeremie Frimpong has engaged in constructive discussions with Manchester United.

Having joined Bayer Leverkusen from Celtic in 2021, the 22-year-old Frimpong has had a notable season. Prior to his time with Celtic, Frimpong had been associated with Manchester City’s academy but hadn’t managed to secure a spot in the Etihad Stadium team.

Football Insider has reported that Manchester United is considering a move to bring Frimpong back to Manchester.

Although Leverkusen has placed a price tag of £50m on the Dutch right-back, the report suggests that a transfer could still be negotiated for a slightly lower fee.

Amidst numerous reports connecting him with a departure from Leverkusen, Frimpong has commented on his future plans. He stated, “I’m currently focusing on Leverkusen and the upcoming games. I haven’t made any decisions yet regarding my future.”

At present, Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Diogo Dalot are vying for a spot in Manchester United’s lineup.

According to Erik ten Hag, the competition between the two players is very tight, with Wan-Bissaka offering better defensive skills and Dalot providing more attacking prowess.

In light of this, ten Hag may be seeking a right-back who can secure a regular spot in the team, rather than rotating between players.

Fabrizio Romano Gives Insight on Frimpong’s Situation: What Did He Say?

According to Fabrizio Romano, who spoke with GIVEMESPORT, he shared, “Around a month ago, Manchester United had a meeting with Frimpong’s agent, and the meeting was constructive.

Frimpong is keen on playing in the Premier League and would prefer to return to Manchester, where he was previously associated with Manchester City’s academy. He has an admiration for the city and its lifestyle.”

Assessing Frimpong’s Potential: Would He Be a Wise Acquisition?

As ten Hag has pointed out, Dalot and Wan-Bissaka have distinct strengths, implying that a right-back who can excel at both defending and attacking may be on his wishlist.

According to FBref, Frimpong has scored eight goals and provided six assists in the league this season. Defensively, he has an average of 1.5 tackles per game and wins 6.3 total duels per game.
