Man Utd has awarded Antony with the goal of the season for his outstanding strike against Barcelona in the Europa League.

On Monday night, a ceremony was held to celebrate Man Utd’s successful season, which included a third-place finish in the Premier League and qualification for the Champions League.

They also won the Carabao Cup earlier in the season and have the opportunity to secure a domestic cup double by defeating rivals Manchester City in the upcoming FA Cup final.

Although they were eliminated in the quarter-finals of the Europa League, they managed to beat LaLiga champions Barcelona 4-3 on aggregate in the last 16 stage.

Antony’s crucial goal in the 73rd minute helped Man Utd progress in the tie and was voted as the fans’ choice for goal of the season.

Man Utd presented a shortlist of ten goals for the fans to vote on, with the top four choices receiving more than 70% of the total votes.

Marcus Rashford’s goal against Burnley in the Carabao Cup came in fourth place, followed by Alejandro Garnacho’s strike against Fulham in third place and Jadon Sancho’s goal against Liverpool at Old Trafford in second place.

Antony’s goal, on the other hand, was a magnificent left-footed curling shot from the edge of the box at Old Trafford in February.

The goal was a result of good defending from Barcelona, with Bruno Fernandes and Fred initially having their shots blocked by the visiting defenders.

Antony then struck the ball after one bounce past Marc-Andre ter Stegen, giving Man Utd a 4-3 lead in the tie, which they held on to win.

Despite his brilliant performance, Antony is uncertain for the FA Cup final after being stretchered off in the win over Chelsea last week.

At the ceremony, Marcus Rashford was named both the fans’ player of the year and the players’ player of the year.

The forward has had an impressive season, scoring 30 goals and regaining his form after a challenging couple of years, achieving his best goal-scoring record to date.

Upon receiving the awards, Rashford expressed his pride, saying that it had been a long time since an academy player had won this award, and he hoped that more academy players could follow in his footsteps.

He thanked his teammates and staff, acknowledging that without their support and encouragement, he would not have been able to perform at his best.
