Inter Milan are said to be demanding a fee of €50 million for Onana, with add-ons that could take the total fee up to €55m.

The Serie A side are hoping that Manchester United’s opening offer matches their price tag, in order to ensure a swift resolution to the transfer.

Should the deal go through, Onana would reunite with his former manager Erik ten Hag, who he worked with at Ajax.

The goalkeeper is highly regarded for his excellent shot-stopping abilities, quick reflexes, and commanding presence in the penalty area.

The signing of Onana could spell the end of David de Gea’s time at Old Trafford. The Spanish goalkeeper’s contract expires soon, and the club has yet to offer him a new deal. Talks over his future are expected to take place after his wedding this weekend.

De Gea has been a stalwart in the United squad for over a decade, but his performances have been inconsistent in recent seasons.

The arrival of Onana would provide the club with a more reliable option between the sticks and strengthen their defense ahead of the upcoming season.

Manchester United will be hoping that they can complete the signing of Onana quickly, giving him time to settle in before the start of the new campaign.
