Manchester United Pursues Replacement for Maguire with Involvement of Fernandes’ Agent
Manchester United is reportedly on the lookout for a new centre-back to potentially replace Harry Maguire, with the involvement of Bruno Fernandes’ agent in the process.
Maguire, who was made the world’s most expensive defender when he joined United in 2019 for £80 million, has struggled to convince some fans since his move from Leicester.
This season, he has lost his first-team place, and there are rumors that he could leave the club this summer.
According to Portuguese newspaper O Jogo, United has already started looking for a new centre-back, and Fernandes’ agent could play a role in the negotiations.
The midfielder shares an agent with United target Goncalo Inacio, and United has reportedly contacted agent Miguel Pinho to explore the possibility of a transfer.
Inacio, who has played for Sporting Lisbon since 2020, has impressed this season with 29 appearances for the club.
He was linked with a move to United last summer and has also played in both games against Arsenal in the Europa League, scoring in the first leg.
United has a history of success with signings from Sporting Lisbon, having brought in Cristiano Ronaldo and Nani from the Portuguese club previously.
In addition to a new centre-back, United is also reportedly in the market for a new striker and potentially a new goalkeeper. With the transfer window set to open soon, it remains to be seen who United will add to their squad in the upcoming months.
