Liverpool Target Three Center-Backs for Summer 2023
Liverpool are reportedly targeting three center-backs for the summer of 2023, as Jurgen Klopp looks to strengthen his defense.
The Reds have been linked with a move for Ajax defender Jurrien Timber, as well as West Ham United’s Nayef Aguerd and Chelsea’s Levi Colwill.
Timber is a 20-year-old Dutch defender who has been a regular in the Ajax first team since making his debut in 2020. He is a versatile defender who can play at center-back or right-back, and he is known for his strong passing and ability to carry the ball out of defense.
Aguerd is a 26-year-old Moroccan defender who has been a key player for West Ham United since joining the club from Rennes in 2021. He is a strong and physical defender who is good in the air, and he is also good at reading the game and making interceptions.
Colwill is a 19-year-old English defender who has been on loan at Huddersfield Town this season. He is a highly-rated young defender who is known for his pace, athleticism, and ability to defend one-on-one.
It is unclear which center-back Liverpool will sign this summer, but Klopp is clearly looking to add to his defensive options. The Reds have conceded the most goals in the top four of the Premier League this season, and they need to improve their defensive record if they want to challenge for the title next season.
