Liverpool have been struggling with midfield issues for some time now, and it seems that Jurgen Klopp is keen to address this problem by strengthening the department during the upcoming summer transfer window. The latest name to emerge in Liverpool’s midfield target list is Aurelien Tchouameni, the French midfielder currently plying his trade at Real Madrid.

According to Spanish source Nacional, Liverpool are interested in signing Tchouameni, who has been in and out of the starting XI for the Los Blancos lately. The report suggests that Liverpool are ready to offer £80 million for the midfielder, who arrived at Real Madrid from Monaco for an initial fee of 80 million euros last year.

While Madrid have not put Tchouameni up for sale, Liverpool could take advantage of the situation to sign the Frenchman, who has ample experience under his belt. He won the UEFA Nations League with France in 2021 and helped them reach the final of the World Cup last year.

Tchouameni’s physicality, strength, and ability to break up play make him an ideal fit for Liverpool’s midfield, which has been lacking depth and quality in recent times. The Reds have not adequately strengthened their midfield since the arrival of Thiago from Bayern Munich in 2020, and Klopp must address this issue to bounce back in the next campaign.

The potential arrival of Tchouameni at Anfield would add depth and quality to Liverpool’s midfield, providing healthy competition for the likes of Thiago, Fabinho, and Jordan Henderson. His signing would be a statement of intent from Liverpool, who are looking to compete for major titles next season.

However, it remains to be seen whether Liverpool will be able to convince Real Madrid to part ways with Tchouameni, who is considered one of the most promising midfielders in Europe. Nevertheless, if Liverpool can secure his signature, it would be a significant boost for their midfield department.
