Monaco defender Axel Disasi has reportedly expressed interest in joining Manchester United this summer. According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, the 25-year-old Frenchman would “love” to make the move to Old Trafford, although he is not a priority signing for United at the moment.

With the likes of Harry Maguire and Eric Bailly rumored to be leaving the club, United boss Erik Ten Hag is said to be in the market for a new central defender. Disasi, who can play on both sides of defense, could be a valuable addition to the squad, especially given the injury troubles that United faced at the back last season.

The Daily Mail reports that Monaco would require around £44m to part ways with Disasi. While the two clubs are yet to agree on a fee, French news outlet L’Equipe claims that Disasi is “one step away” from joining United, where he would become Ten Hag’s first signing of the summer.

Disasi’s ability to play on both sides of defense could prove to be a useful asset, as he could provide cover for both Maguire and Varane. However, it remains to be seen whether he would be willing to play second fiddle to the established pair.

Should Disasi make the move to United, he would bring with him a wealth of experience, having played for French clubs Reims and Monaco, as well as featuring in the Europa League with the latter. He would also add to the growing number of French players at the club, including Paul Pogba and Anthony Martial.

Overall, Disasi could be a shrewd acquisition for United, providing depth and versatility to a position that has been problematic in recent seasons.
