Liverpool have reportedly identified Holland international midfielder Teun Koopmeiners as an alternative to Borussia Dortmund’s Jude Bellingham ahead of the summer transfer window. Koopmeiners, who currently plays for Atalanta, has been in impressive form this season, contributing seven goals and six assists in Serie A.

However, Juventus are also said to be interested in the 23-year-old and are pushing to close a deal for him. According to Italian newspaper Il Corriere dello Sport, Liverpool are now seen as “the biggest obstacle” to Juventus’ plans to sign Koopmeiners.

Atalanta are reportedly prepared to do business for a fee in the region of €35-40m, which could prove to be a bargain considering Koopmeiners’ potential and versatility. The Dutchman is capable of playing in a number of midfield roles, including as a deep-lying playmaker, a box-to-box midfielder, or even as an attacking midfielder.

For Liverpool, Koopmeiners could be an ideal addition to their midfield, providing depth and quality alongside the likes of Jordan Henderson, Fabinho, and Thiago Alcantara. His impressive set-piece delivery and ability to score goals from midfield could also be a valuable asset to Jurgen Klopp’s side.
