Klopp Stresses Importance of New Signing Endo to Liverpool’s Rebuild
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has underlined the significance of new signing Wataru Endo to the Reds upon the Japanese midfielder’s arrival from Stuttgart.
With Fabinho’s departure leaving a void in Liverpool’s number six position, Klopp made clear how much the club value Endo, signed for £16.25 million.
Despite not being the big-money signing some fans expected, Klopp stressed Endo’s importance in his first words to the new recruit:
“We really need you and your heart, and your legs, and your football ability, and your football brain. Your desire, we need it,” Klopp told the Japanese captain.
Klopp believes Endo has the exact attributes Liverpool require as they rebuild. “We have a really good team, really offensive. Really happy to see you,” the manager added.

Having watched Endo in the Bundesliga, Klopp is excited by the 30-year-old’s abilities, saying: “Good footballer, 5’10”, but in the air really good and defensive challenges \[he\] loves it. Tactically really good.”
With Liverpool facing a race to get Endo’s work permit approved, it is unknown if he can debut versus Bournemouth. But Klopp has already emphasized the midfielder’s importance in filling the number six role amid the Reds’ transition.
Despite his age, Endo boasts the energy, defensive strength and tactical intelligence to thrive under Klopp. The manager’s effusive praise outlines the leadership and desire he expects the Japanese star to bring.
