Klopp Hails Szoboszlai’s ‘Grenade’ Goal Against Leicester

Jurgen Klopp heaped praise on Dominik Szoboszlai after the summer signing came off the bench to fire Liverpool into the Carabao Cup last 16 with a stunning goal against Leicester.
Liverpool had fallen behind early when Kasey McAteer gave Leicester a 3rd minute lead. But Cody Gakpo equalized in the second half to draw Liverpool level.
Klopp turned to Szoboszlai in the 70th minute and it took the Hungarian just moments to make an impact. He unleashed an unstoppable strike from outside the box that gave Liverpool the lead.
It was Szoboszlai’s second goal since joining from RB Leipzig for £60 million in the summer. Klopp was full of praise for the midfielder, saying “He has a pretty good skill. The next (shot) he had which was slightly over was another grenade as well. It was a super goal.”
The easy transition Szoboszlai has made to Liverpool has been key to their strong start this season. When asked if he had settled quicker than expected, Klopp said he has been impressive from day one but also works very hard.
Diogo Jota later added a third to seal Liverpool’s victory over the Championship leaders. The win sends them into the last 16 and is further evidence of the impact Szoboszlai is already having at Anfield.
