Liverpool pre-season preparations have been disrupted by the news that Fabinho will not travel with the squad for their training camp in Germany. The Brazilian midfielder has been the subject of a significant bid from Al Hilal, managed by Nuno Espírito Santo, and Liverpool have deemed it prudent to leave him behind while negotiations continue for his potential sale.

Fabinho, who is often referred to as ‘The Hoover’ by Jurgen Klopp, has been a key player for Liverpool since joining from Monaco in 2018. He has established himself as one of the best holding midfielders in the game, and his departure would be a significant loss for the club.

If Fabinho does leave, Liverpool will need to find a replacement for him. They are reportedly considering a number of options, including Southampton’s Romeo Lavia, Bayern Munich’s Ryan Gravenberch, and Fiorentina’s Sofyan Amrabat. One surprising name on their list is Manchester City’s Kalvin Phillips, but it remains to be seen whether a transfer between the two clubs is a realistic possibility.

Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson has travelled with the squad to Germany, despite speculation about his own future. The club’s opening pre-season friendly is against Karlsruhe on Wednesday, and new signings Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Sbozoszlai could make their first appearances for the club.

Overall, Fabinho’s potential departure is a significant moment for Liverpool, and they will need to move quickly to find a suitable replacement for him. Klopp will be hoping that the disruption does not impact the team’s preparations too much as they look to mount a serious challenge for the Premier League title next season.
