Dimitar Berbatov, a former striker who won titles with Manchester United, thinks that Wayne Rooney will become the manager of the club at some point in the future.

Between 2008 and 2012, Berbatov formed a star-studded partnership with Rooney, during which they won two Premier League titles, two League cups, and the Club World Cup as teammates.

Berbatov has been monitoring the progress of his former team and has predicted that Rooney will eventually become the manager of Manchester United.

As United’s leading scorer of all time, Rooney currently manages DC United in the MLS.

Berbatov is convinced that Rooney possesses the necessary qualities to guide the English powerhouse to success. “Not many players from my era at Manchester United have pursued careers in management,” Berbatov remarked to Betfred.

Berbatov expressed his belief that Rooney aspires to manage Manchester United in the future and is confident that he will achieve this goal.

He acknowledged that Rooney is gaining valuable experience in club management, despite a mixed record of four victories in twelve games with DC United this season.

However, Erik ten Hag’s successful first season as United’s current manager could potentially disrupt Rooney’s aspirations.

Ten Hag has already won the League Cup and will contest the FA Cup final against Manchester City, indicating his intention to enjoy a long and successful tenure at the club.

Moreover, United’s new ownership takeover, which is set to provide substantial funds for the summer transfer window, could further cement ten Hag’s position.

Berbatov also endorsed Michael Carrick, a former United midfielder, as a potential candidate for a managerial position at the club in the future, citing his impressive performance with Middlesbrough this season.

Berbatov also noted that Michael Carrick, who was a temporary interim manager at Manchester United last season, has shown promise in his first permanent managerial role with Middlesbrough, having led them to the playoffs in the Championship.

Berbatov believes that Carrick, like Rooney, would also aspire to manage Manchester United in the future.

He praised Carrick’s intelligence as a player and manager, citing his success in the current role as evidence of his potential to become a future United manager. “Anyone would want to manage the club they love, and he’s currently doing very well at Middlesbrough,” Berbatov remarked.
