De Gea Returns to Manchester United Watches Women's Team

Former Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea recently paid a visit to his old club to support their women’s team. De Gea watched as United faced Paris Saint-Germain in a Women’s Champions League qualifier at the Leigh Sports Village.

The 32-year-old Spaniard’s contract with Manchester United expired last season after 12 years with the club. He is currently without a new team, despite being linked to several Saudi Arabian and Spanish sides. De Gea had returned to the UK to sort out matters related to the house he lived in prior to leaving United.

It was during this short trip that De Gea took time to cheer on the women’s squad in their UEFA Women’s Champions League match. As the runners-up of the Women’s Super League last season, United entered the second qualifying round stage – one before the group phase. De Gea also showed his support on Instagram, wishing the team luck in their warm-up.

Since his United departure, De Gea has been based in Madrid with his pop star partner Edurne Garcia and their young daughter. The couple married last summer in Menorca. With his future still undecided, De Gea appears relaxed as he spends quality family time and is not rushing to sign with a new team. That may change come January, but after earning a substantial weekly wage at Old Trafford, he can afford to be patient in his search.
