Danish media comments on Rasmus Hojlund’s performance for the national team

Danish national team manager Kasper Hjulmand kept his word and did not use Rasmus Hojlund for the entire 90 minutes against San Marino.
The truth was that Denmark did not need Hojlund at all. After taking a 3-0 lead at half-time, the game was decided.
Hojlund came onto the pitch in the 58th minute and hit the post. Denmark won 4-0, where Manchester United teammate Christian Eriksen stole the show with three assists.
Denmark now face Scandinavian rivals Finland, who are two points above them at the top of their EM 2024 qualifying group. So they wanted to give the striker Hojlund some match practice.

Rasmus Hojlund’s performance
Rasmus Hojlund’s performance did not yield a goal for himself, but Denmark did not need any more goals either. The game was decided by the time he came onto the pitch.
He came close to scoring, hitting the post with a low shot from the edge of the penalty area.
The Danish media Bold.dk gave him a rating of 5/10, which is good compared to Christian Eriksen, who was rated highest with 6/10.
They wrote: “He showed himself well when he came on after 58 minutes. He was a power factor on the pitch and created chances for his teammates with his physique.”
Tipsbladet described the game as ‘boring’ between teams of different weight, and an evening without pressure for the national team manager. However, the outlet noted that a sold-out stadium was happy to see “Manchester United star Rasmus Hojlund.”
Their rating scale ran 1-5, where five was highest, and Hojlund was rated in the middle with a three.
The write-up said: “The Manchester United striker received one of the evening’s biggest rounds of applause when he came onto the pitch in the last half hour of the match. After a few minutes on the pitch, he came close to assisting Martin Braithwaite. In addition, he gave San Marino’s defenders problems.”
Denmark could use Hojlund from the start against Finland
Rasmus Hojlund has scored six goals in his seven EM 2024 qualifiers, including a hat-trick against Finland.
He will likely start, even though Jonas Wind started against San Marino and scored and assisted. So the national team manager has a decision to make.
The game against Finland is on Sunday, after which Hojlund will return to Manchester United to prepare for the Premier League match against Brighton on the following Saturday.
