Mason Greenwood Makes Debut for Getafe in La Liga

Manchester United loanee Mason Greenwood made his debut for Getafe today against Osasuna in La Liga.

It has been a turbulent time for Greenwood since his controversies at Manchester United in early 2022. He was accused of rape and assault, though charges were eventually dropped due to lack of evidence.

Greenwood joined Getafe on a season-long loan late in the summer transfer window. Manager Jose Bordalas had said the club would be patient with Greenwood as he works on regaining match fitness after over a year away from competitive football.

In today’s match against Osasuna, Greenwood came off the bench in the 77th minute to replace Juanmi Latasa. While it was a short cameo, it was significant as his first appearance for Getafe since completing his loan move.

Getafe will hope Greenwood can start to make meaningful contributions as he continues to get up to full speed.
