The Red Devils have been in talks to secure the services of the Cameroonian international as they look to replace David de Gea, who recently departed from Old Trafford after 12 years of service.

Fabrizio Romano, another well-known transfer insider, has reported that United will have to offer Inter a deal worth €55m (around £47m) to secure the signature of Onana, with personal terms already agreed with the player.

Romano also claims that the Red Devils are “really close” to completing the deal, with the stopper expected to join the club’s pre-season tour of the United States.

United manager, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, will be pleased with the acquisition of Onana, who has been in impressive form for Inter in recent seasons.

The Dutchman was hailed as a “superstar” by journalist Oma Akatugba, and his addition to the United squad will bolster their defensive capabilities.

Jones has also revealed that United have the No. 1 shirt ready for Onana’s arrival and that the goalkeeper is set to become the club’s immediate first-choice option between the sticks.

The transfer expert believes that a deal between the two clubs is “into the final stages,” and he does not anticipate any late hiccups in the move.

Onana started his professional career at Barcelona before moving to Ajax in 2015. He helped the Dutch club reach the semi-finals of the Champions League in the 2018/19 season, where they were eventually knocked out by Tottenham Hotspur.

He has since established himself as one of the most reliable goalkeepers in the Eredivisie and Serie A.

The 27-year-old is known for his shot-stopping abilities, quick reflexes, and excellent distribution skills, making him an ideal fit for United’s style of play. With the addition of Onana, ten hag will have a solid goalkeeping unit that also includes Dean Henderson and Tom Heaton.

Who else could Man Utd sign this summer?

Manchester United are reportedly interested in signing a striker as they look to bolster their squad ahead of the upcoming Premier League season.

According to reports, Dutch manager Erik ten Hag is keen to strengthen his attacking options, following the unsuccessful loan spell of Wout Weghorst from Burnley.

Atalanta striker Rasmus Hojlund is said to be United’s primary target, with the club believed to be considering other options as well.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has also revealed that the Red Devils are interested in signing Urawa Red Diamonds goalkeeper Zion Suzuki as a backup to Andre Onana, who is expected to be the club’s first-choice goalkeeper.

With Dean Henderson likely to leave the club after a successful loan spell at Nottingham Forest last season, United will need two goalkeepers to be at their disposal.

Overall, it looks set to be a busy transfer window for the 20-time Premier League champions, as they aim to improve on last season’s third-placed finish.

With the addition of Onana and potentially a new striker, United will be hoping to mount a serious challenge for the title in the upcoming season. Fans will be eagerly anticipating further developments as the transfer window progresses.
