Liverpool has been linked with a move for PSG star Kylian Mbappe this summer, but it appears that any deal is unlikely. The Frenchman is currently playing out another high-profile transfer saga with PSG, with his current contract at Parque des Princes dwindling.

Mbappe signed a two-year deal with the option of another 12 months last summer, but the extension was in his hands, not the club’s. He informed PSG that he would not be triggering the extension, meaning that he is now in the final year of his deal with the club. This has caused outrage at PSG, with the club’s hierarchy claiming that Mbappe must sign a new contract or be transferred this summer.

While Real Madrid has often been linked with Mbappe, Arsenal and Liverpool have also shown interest recently. However, according to journalist Ben Jacobs, in an interview with CaughtOffside, there are no talks from either team at this stage.

While the situation is still fluid, it appears that there is a stalemate between PSG and Mbappe that will have to be resolved before any transfer can take place. Real Madrid would prefer to wait until next summer and sign Mbappe on a free, but would consider moving now if the price is right.

For now, Liverpool fans will have to wait and see what happens with Mbappe and whether or not the Gunners will make a move for him. In the meantime, they can look forward to the upcoming season and hope that their team can improve on their previous performances.
