Manchester United are close to securing a deal for Fiorentina midfielder Sofyan Amrabat. The Moroccan international has reportedly packed his bags in anticipation of a move to Old Trafford.

United were interested in signing Amrabat during the January transfer window but were unable to agree on a deal with Fiorentina.

While they ended up signing Marcel Sabitzer on loan from Bayern Munich, their interest in Amrabat remained strong.

Italian outlet Tuttosport claims Amrabat is edging closer to joining United, with manager Erik ten Hag eager to continue strengthening his midfield.

Amrabat is expected to cost around £30 million, but any deal depends on United being able to offload players first.

Galatasaray are interested in Brazilian midfielder Fred but have so far failed to meet United’s asking price. Meanwhile, Real Sociedad have shown interest in Donny van de Beek. Moving these players on could finance the signing of Amrabat and bolster United’s options in central and defensive midfield.

Amrabat is coming off an excellent season at both club and international level. He was a key figure as Morocco made history by reaching the World Cup semi-finals, their best ever finish for an African nation. Amrabat also helped Fiorentina to the Europa Conference League final before they lost to West Ham.

United have already signed Mason Mount and Andre Onana this Month. They have also agreed to a £72 million deal for Atalanta striker Rasmus Hojlund as Ten Hag continues to reshape his squad.
