Liverpool ‘very close’ to agreement for next target after Szoboszlai, as ‘crazy offer’ is revealed

Liverpool FC is reportedly in advanced talks to sign one of Jurgen Klopp’s most coveted transfer targets, Ryan Gravenberch. According to reports from Spain, the club has submitted a ‘crazy offer’ for the Bayern Munich midfielder, who is described as ‘one of the first reinforcements’ being sought for that area of the pitch at Anfield.

The relevant parties are said to be in ‘very advanced negotiations’ and an agreement for the 21-year-old is believed to be ‘very close.’ However, Gravenberch recently reaffirmed his commitment to Bayern in a declaration, so it remains to be seen if Liverpool will be able to sign the Dutch midfielder.

Liverpool’s immediate focus is set on finalising a move for Dominik Szoboszlai, who has been spotted on Merseyside ahead of a proposed move from RB Leipzig. The 22-year-old is due to undergo a medical over the coming days. Once the Szoboszlai transfer is fully confirmed, Liverpool may turn their attention to pursuing Gravenberch.

The report from Spain did not give any numerical indication as to what constitutes the supposed ‘crazy offer,’ although Bayern’s asking price of €25m (£21.5m) could provide some context. Fans should not expect significant progress in the pursuit of Gravenberch until the Szoboszlai deal is fully confirmed, but it will be interesting to see if Klopp and the Liverpool hierarchy go all-out in trying to land the Netherlands under-21 ace.
