With just days to go until the summer transfer window closes, clubs across England are scrambling to complete deals according to today’s transfer gossip columns.

Manchester United have been strongly linked with reinforcements at full-back with Luke Shaw set for a spell on the sidelines. Both Chelsea’s Marc Cucurella and Barcelona’s Marcus Alonso, 32, are said to be targets, reports the Daily Express and Daily Star.

Fellow Spaniard Sergio Reguilon is another option the Daily Telegraph says United are considering. However, Fulham are reportedly in pole position to sign the 26-year-old left-back from Tottenham.

Everton appear close to a £24 million swoop for Portuguese striker Beto from Udinese, writes the i newspaper. Another Portuguese player, Wolves midfielder Matheus Nunes, could join Premier League champions Manchester City after they lodged an improved bid, says the Daily Express.

Fulham are keen to strengthen further by bringing in Leicester City defender Timothy Castagne, 27, while Tottenham are expected to table a £50 million offer for Nottingham Forest forward Brennan Johnson, 22, according to reports.
